From Rei Kawakubo's F/W 2007 'Curiosity' collection for Comme des Garçons, these iconic neon pink trousers feature the collection's signature padded hand motif, with sculptural, three dimensional gloves positioned around the hips to create the illusion of someone grasping the wearer's waist. Presented on the runway in this exact colourway and design, the trousers feature a low-slung waistband, dramatically exaggerated drop crotch and loose, tapered legs finishing at the ankle.
One of the most recognisable designs from the collection, Kawakubo's padded hand motif has recently returned to the spotlight, with Kim Kardashian wearing the grey skirt variation in All's Fair, while Kylie Jenner has also been photographed wearing pieces from the collection. A striking example of Kawakubo's enduring fascination with the relationship between clothing and the human body, these are a significant and collectible piece from one of the twentieth century's most celebrated designers. Made in Japan.
