Dating to the S/S 1997  'Five Centuries Ago' collection, this Vivienne Westwood Gold Label skirt appeared in variation on the runway, where it was shown in gold. This example is realised in silver silk blend with Westwood’s signature reinterpretation of historical dress through sculptural tailoring and exaggerated proportion.

Cut with a structured, boned corseted waistband, the silhouette sits high on the waist before falling into a tapered pencil shape with exaggerated hips that create a distinctly late 90's Westwood line. Back vents allow movement while maintaining the architectural shape through the body. The metallic finish lends a softly armour like quality, balancing the collection’s references to portraiture and period costume with a sharper, more modern edge.
