Dating to the S/S 1989 collection, this iconic shirt by JPG was produced under the mainline ready to wear Jean Paul Gaultier Femme label. Crafted from a lightweight stretch acetate/rayon blend with satin detailing at the collar, cuffs, placket, breast pockets & 'cage' cut-outs, it is fully boned through the front for shape & features glossy jet snap buttons and studding. A beautifully constructed and very daring piece from fashion's enfant terrible, similar designs were shown on the runway and were worn by Helen Mirren in the 1989 movie "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover" and by Madonna during her 1990 "Blonde Ambition" tour, both of which Gaultier designed the costumes for. A true collector's item, this is made in Italy.
