Legendary London textile & fashion designer Zandra Rhodes is highly sought after among vintage afficionados for her highly decorative pieces, and this extremely rare piece from her S/S 1987 'Secrets Of The Nile' collection is an outstanding & museum worthy example of her work. Crafted from silk chiffon, the dress is hand printed with the 'New Barrier Reef' print and features a harlequin collar with beaded and hand rolled neckline and a cut-out scooped back. The collar and bottom hem feature pink pearl droplets and the collar is also embellished with opalescent pink sequin appliqués. It comes with a black jersey halter neck underslip, also trimmed with pink pearls at the bottom hem, which can be worn under the dress for more coverage, or also works worn alone as a sleek alternative. Completely handmade in the UK, the provenance of this dress has been identified by Zandra herself who believes this may be the only one of its kind in existence!
