From Versace S/S 1997, this sheer button-down shirt features the house’s iconic heart motif created in collaboration with American artist Jim Dine. A defining print of the period, the design reflects Gianni Versace’s long-standing engagement with contemporary art, where graphic symbolism became central to the house’s visual language. Versions of this print appeared across the runway and campaign imagery of the season and would later be revisited by Versace in subsequent collections, cementing its place within the house’s visual language.
Cut from a fine, semi-sheer fabric, the shirt is printed throughout with multicoloured hearts, many bearing a Gianni Versace signature. The silhouette is classic and unfussy, allowing the print to take precedence, and finished with distinctive red buttons that punctuate the surface with graphic contrast. Light, expressive, and unmistakably of its era, this is a quintessential example of late 90's Gianni Versace at his most playful and assured. Made In Italy.
