Dating to the 80’s, this stunning dress is designed by Christina Stambolian, a Greek evening wear designer who sold her designs in her own named boutiques in Paris & London throughout the 80's & 90's, and who gained international notoriety when Princess Diana wore one of her dresses - now universally known as 'The Revenge Dress' - to a 1994 Serpentine Gallery gala on the same night that her estranged husband Prince Charles confessed on national television that he had been unfaithful to her.
Beautifully constructed, this dress is made from florl printed silk, and featuresa sweetheart neckline, ruching over the bust & torso, a double layered flared skirt with attached crinoline petticoat underneath & magnificently dramatic leg of mutton cropped sleeves. The entire sleeves & neckline are hand embroidered in sequins, creating a 3D effect to the floral print in these areas. An extremely rare & unique piece, this is fully lined & features a hand written label in the petticoat, designating it as a demi-couture quality piece.
