Dating to the F/W 1986 collection, this is an extremely early runway piece from Donna Karan who launched her fashion line only a year earlier in the fall of 1985 with the iconic 'Seven Easy Pieces' collection. In the very early days of her label, Karan spared no expense with regards to production, using only the most high end luxury materials & producing her collections exclusively in Europe. This dress is a stunning example of the craftsmanship & expense that went into those early pieces.

Made in France from incredibly soft & supple goat suede dyed a gorgeous shade of crimson, this is a blouson style with structured padded shoulders, a ribbed & elasticated nipped in waist and a full skirt which moves beautifully with the wearer. It fastenes down the front with snaps hidden by a placket, and is fully lined with hip pockets. Designed to do double duty as a swing coat, this innovative piece invites the wearer to experiment with layers dependong on the season but looks equally fabulous worn as is.
