Designed by Tom Ford for Gucci's legendary S/S 1998 collection, these crocodile slingback pumps embody the sophisticated sensuality that defined one of fashion's most influential eras. Distinguished by their elongated square toe, sculptural kitten heel and crystal-set Gucci "G" discreetly embedded into the reverse of the heel, they balance immaculate restraint with the kind of quiet luxury that became synonymous with Ford's vision for the house.
Styled on the runway by Carine Roitfeld who directed the models to wear the pumps as mules by stepping on the slingback strap, these were also featured in the season's advertising campaign photographed by Luis Sanchis and extensively in international editorials at the time. This silhouette has become one of Tom Ford's most enduring contributions to Gucci, with it's influence proved so lasting that Ford himself revived the design for his F/W 2018 collection, before Alessandro Michele reinterpreted it for Gucci's celebrated Aria collection in 2021. Most recently, the silhouette returned once again during Gucci's Cruise 2026 presentation, a testament to its enduring place within the house's archive. A true collector's piece from Tom Ford's golden era at Gucci.
