A fully boned corset in ivory satin with long fitted sleeves, constructed with Westwood’s signature emphasis on structure and the female form, this iconic corset is printed on the front panel with Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s 'A Swarm of Cupids' and framed by gilt scrollwork that references 18th-century portraiture and decorative arts.
The piece is cut with a sharply defined waist and structured through internal boning, creating the sculpted silhouette central to Westwood’s corsetry of this period. The satin ground has a soft sheen, contrasting with the painterly detail of the printed panel. From the F/W 1991 “Dressing Up” collection, one of Westwood’s most important bodies of work, where historical references, eroticism, and art were brought together through her reinterpretation of corsetry, variations of these printed corsets are now held in institutional collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
A defining example of early 1990's Westwood, and one of the house’s most recognisable and enduring designs. Made in England.
