Dating to the S/S 2000 collection, this Christian Dior by John Galliano silk chiffon slip dress appeared on the runway and was featured in the season’s campaign worn by Gisele Bündchen. Executed in lightweight silk chiffon, the dress employs Galliano’s signature trompe l’oeil technique to recreate the appearance of faded denim through print, transforming an everyday fabric into something fluid, delicate and unmistakably Dior.
Cut on the bias with fine spaghetti straps, the silhouette skims the body before falling into a softly flared hem with natural movement through the skirt. Printed seam construction, pocket details and Dior logo buttons heighten the illusion, while the layered construction and sheer finish retain the lightness of a true slip dress. An early and highly recognisable example of Galliano’s fascination with illusion, historical references and reworking familiar garments through couture technique.
Made in France.
